About the IYBL

Basketball with purpose

The Island Youth Basketball League gives young players a safe, structured, & positive environment to learn the game, build confidence and grow on and off the court.

Every IYBL session combines three core parts:

Through basketball, players also explore IYBL themes including Health, Wisdom, Equality, Opportunity, Leadership, Safety and Support.

Who It's For

Who can participate

IYBL is open to girls and boys in K4 through Grade 9. Players are grouped appropriately to support balanced teams, meaningful playing time, and continued development at every stage.

2026 to 2027 Season Schedule

Join us for one program or play throughout the year.

FALL JAMBOREE 2026

Four Saturdays of skill development, team practice and league games.

Includes official IYBL t-shirt.

WINTER LEAGUE 2027

Seven (7) Saturdays of skill development, team practice and league games.

*March 20 subject to the WCQ February window.

SPRING LEAGUE 2027

Seven Saturdays of skill development, team practice and league games.

Includes IYBL team uniform + basketball*

All sessions are held on Saturdays. One team uniform and one basketball are issued per player per IYBL league year. Full schedules are shared before each league begins.

Our Format

Skill Development • Team Practice • Game Play

Our approach is development first. Players learn the game through age appropriate instruction, purposeful practice and meaningful competition while the IYBL PLAY framework helps connect basketball lessons to life beyond the court.

Schedule

All league sessions are held on Saturdays. Division times and full schedules are provided to registered families before each program begins.

UNIFORMS & EQUIPMENT

Players registered for the Fall Jamboree receive an official IYBL T shirt.

Players registered for the Winter League or Spring League receive an official IYBL team uniform and basketball.

One team uniform and one basketball are issued per player per IYBL league year. Players who already received these items earlier in the 2026 to 2027 league year will not receive another set.

Uniforms and basketballs are distributed at the start of the applicable league program.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Limited scholarships (financial assistance) is available to help eligible families with IYBL registration fees.

Applications are reviewed privately and awards are based on demonstrated need and available funding.

Financial assistance may be available for the Fall Jamboree, Winter League, Spring League or multiple programs during the 2026 to 2027 IYBL year.

Registration is required before financial assistance can be finalized.
